Using the right make up brushes is one of the most important things to having flawless makeup, well and good technique of course. A lot of times we splurge on the make up itself but save and by cheap brushes to apply it. And, if the brush isn't good, the makeup won't look good either, just from experience. The majority of the brushes I use are Sigma Brushes, so stick around to find out which brushes I use and which ones I can't be without!
Here I will take you through a breakdown of all the Sigma Brushes I have and what they are used for. I do use other brushes as well for things like blush, and powder but for the sake of this post I will just be talking about Sigma.
All items marked with a * were included in the Performance Eye Kit but can be purchased individually as well.
Face Brushes
Duo Fiber F50 Brush / $23 / Large duo fiber flat topped brush that creates an airbrush finish to your face. Can be used with liquid or powder makeup.
Flat Kabuki F80 / $21 / Very dense, flat topped brush. Great for buffing in liquid or cream on areas such as cheeks or forehead. This is the brush I use when I'm not using my Beauty Blender. Click the link to learn how to use a Beauty Blender.
Eye Brushes
Blending E25 / $12 / Great for blending colors together on your lids. I use this a lot when I need to blend eye shadow quickly because it covers more area.
*Blending E36 / $12 / Not to be confused with the last brush because they do have similar names. This is literally probably my favorite brush I own. I use this for more precise blending of my eye shadow to eliminate harsh lines, this makes a great smokey effect where it transitions from color to a soft focus. This brush is pretty much fool proof.
Eye Shading E55 / $12 / Love this brush! This is used to apply shadow to your lid area by patting the color on instead of dragging the brush along the lid. You can also wet this brush and apply loose eye shadow.
*Eye Liner E11 / $12 / Creates a smooth line. Can be used with liquid or gel eyeliner.
*Shader Inner Corner E46 / $12 / Great for applying a highlight shade to the inner corner of your eyes. The highlight shade applied to the inner corner gives the appearance of well rested eyes. Sometimes you just have to fake it! :)
*Shader-Crease E47 / $12 / I use this to apply darker shades to the outer corner or crease of my lid. While you are applying the color this brush is actually blending it out as it goes too.
*Shader Lid E56 / $12 / Can be used if you only want to apply a color to the center of the lid, used for more precise areas.
*Smudge E21 / $12 / One of my favorites! Used to smudge out shadow or liner on upper or lower lash line.
Tapered Blending E35 / $14 / This is good for applying color to the crease. However this brush is basically the same as the Blending E25 brush, you don't really need both, However, I use one for dark colors and I keep the other clean for blending.
*Tightline Liner E16 / $12 / I haven't mastered this one yet, but when I have more time on my hands I try it. This is used to press liquid or gel liner into your tightline (the underneath of the upper lash line). Doing this gives the appearance of more full thick lashes.
*Waterline Liner E17 / $12 / This can be used to apply liquid or gel liner to your waterline (the inner rim of the lower lash line).
Pencil E30 / $12 / I love this brush! I use it to smoke out liner on the top or lower lashes. If I don't want to wear liquid or gel eyeliner that day I just dip my pencil brush in black eye shadow and line my eyes that way. It's a much more soft look.
So there you have it! I love these brushes so much, I've tried other brands but nothing beats Sigma's quality for the price. Sigma is often comparable to Mac Brushes for half of the price, so you can get more bang for your buck. These are definitely worth giving a try. Now you just need somewhere to store them, Click here to make the most glammed out brush holder.
